It seems that the brand has more reds than greens in terms of sustainability. One of the major drawbacks could be usage of non-recyclable materials. There is no transparency on the sourcing of ingredients. Moreover, there is no description on the product or the website if they are hypoallergenic and paraben free. One 30ml of restorative treatment bottle costs $94 whereas one 30ml of Neutrogena Hydro boost Hydrating serum costs $18.49. There is a $75 difference!!!! So yes the product is not only unsustainable but also expensive.

What it's made of:

Yes!! There is a total of 28 ingredients. But the brand does not talk about the sourcing of ingredients.

Speaking of the packaging material that the brand uses, it is gloomy to know that there is plastic everywhere “Bags- some are cloth, others are plastic”, “Plastic components for product packaging , We have hard plastic and plastic tubes”, “Plastic bags and plastic displays for product”. I feel it is just too much of plastic. “Bags- some are cloth, others are plastic”. About this statement, I keep wondering why the brand didn’t commit toward making cloth bags alone.

“We currently don’t use recyclable plastics because of the cost involved in manufacturing. Down the road we’d like to look into it but for a small company the cost is a major factor”, “Cardboard boxes and paper materials can be recycled but are not made from recyclable paper”, “Our plastic bags don’t have a recyclable label on them as of now but it is something we will change in the feature”

It is evident that the brand does absolutely nothing in order to be sustainable. It is understandable that for a small company like them it could a cost intensive factor to replace all the plastics into recyclables. But it is high time that they start gearing towards achieving it. Though the company uses a lot of plastic, they use same packaging for multiple products which reduces the energy and resource that is being used and the waste that gets emitted post - production. It is also important to notice that the brand does not have any certifications.

The more quantities we purchase the lower the cost is for us which will allow us to change eventually to more environmentally friendly packaging”

Here is a silver lining that the company has already started working on their part to become sustainable. The brand also uses least amount of packaging while delivering their products to customers. The delivery package usually entails: the product packed inside a bubble wrap to prevent the plastic container from breaking. *DISCLAIMER: Bubble wrap comes under plastic material and it takes 500+ years to biodegrade!!! So instead of using a bubble wrap, one could use layers of crushed papers or cloth to pack a material*.  The bubble wrapped content is then packed within a cardboard box which is sealed with a recyclable tape.

How it's made:


The brand did not disclose any information on the manufacturing process. In general, a beauty company uses a lot of water during the operation. No information pertaining to how much water they use and the source where they get their water from was to be found.

“We used to use a lot of outside sales incentives like, bags, hats, t-shirts, headbands etc that would cost us a lot of money and use a lot of outside resources. We have almost cut these out completely”. -It is good to know that the company has halted the incentive process completely as it will lead to usage and wasting of additional resources. There are multiple ways in which a brand could advertise themselves without wasting the resources. The brand could focus on that area.  

They use USPS for shipping which cuts the air freight as the shipping happens mostly by ground. “We’ve had to go to weekly analysis on product sales and inventory where it used to be monthly”. It is also encouraging to see how the company is pushing themselves in the event of COVID.

The company does not have any data on net carbon emissions. I am also curious to know if the brand tried to track down what happens to the product (its packaging mainly) post use, i.e. once it goes to the landfill. It is unclear if they tried to look into the environmental impact the material has and accordingly if they tried to improve in that area.

Who makes it:


It is good to know how the CEO claims that each single department is responsible in making the brand a sustainable one. Even if not a revolutionary practice, for now the brand is focusing on managing the inventory properly so as to keep a track of inflow and outflow of resources. I would say it is a good start for a small brand that aims to become sustainable sometime in the future.

“What dimension(s) of sustainability do you prioritize? - I think for us right now it’s economy, society and lastly environment. At the moment environment is the one pillar that isn’t focused on much because of the cost that’s involved to change everything”. – As an environmental engineer, I think this statement could be the one giving me nightmares. For any brand, how much ever small they might be, I would juxtapose economic and environmental factors as primary indicators. When these two works out well, the society will reap the benefits automatically. The company not only sells the product, but they also 1% of all website sales to a non profit organization, Bring Change to mind which helps fight stigma against the mental health.
