Hello there! My name is Riana, and I am currently a senior Business Management major and Sustainable Business minor at Appalachian State University! I have grown up in Garner, North Carolina, and love to be outdoors, help people, and to create. At the intersection of all of these can sustainability be found. I’ve often heard of how concerned one is about leaving their mark on the world, to be remembered. My life goal is to simply leave the world a better place than I found it. Helping others move towards a more sustainable future is how I plan on doing it! I’m so thrilled to be expanding my knowledge and am incredibly grateful to be doing it as a part of the Voiz community. There is so much around sustainability that I find absolutely compelling, though more recently intersectional environmentalism and corporate sustainability has been my focus. Most of the time I can be found reading, writing, running outdoors, and taking up large amounts of time to learn about obscure feminist history.
As a SAL, I had the opportunity to watch not just my pod, but the entirety of the cohort grow over the course of their internship. The part that I probably enjoyed the most was the conversations that we facilitated in review session, to be able to have a large group of diverse thoughts discussing the intricacies of sustainability and society.
