Hi everyone! My name is Mariam Ziauddin, and I’m from Los Angeles, CA. I am an incoming junior from University of California, Santa Barbara in the Environmental Studies Program working towards a Bachelors of Arts degree. I found my love for sustainability through participating in countless beach clean-ups only to never find an end to the amount of waste found on the shores edge. In order for the resources we have to thrive, there has to be a large impact made by a large group of sustainable driven and passionate people. I believe I have found those people through Voiz. In the future, I look forward help shift the mindset of our current consumerism lifestyles in order to conserve the earth we walk on. I’m currently working towards those goals by becoming a Sustainable Analysis Intern with Voiz, interning with CALPIRG Students, developing a research idea involving shark consumption and taking part in the Carbon-Neutral Isla Vista by 2025 Initiative in our local community in Santa Barbara. In my free time I love to go on long walks near the beach, dance, surf & skate, paint whatever comes to mind, listen to music and create as many food dishes as I can! I also spend a large chunk of my time creating memories with my close family and friends, since they are my biggest supporters! This summer while working with Voiz I am looking forward to broadening my knowledge about what sustainability truly is and how to connect those pieces into the real world! <3
