Hello! My name is Janet and I am a rising senior at the University of California San Diego studying Mechanical Engineering with a Specialization in Renewable Energy and Environmental Flows. Recently, I picked up a minor in Middle Eastern Studies because my family is Jordanian and Palestinian, and being able to study my culture has always been so fascinating to me. The reason I chose to study Mechanical Engineering was that under all of Engineering, Mechanical encompasses a lot of bits and pieces of each focus that I will get a very well-rounded education and when I go into the workforce, I will have a lot of career opportunities outside the realm of just Mechanics. However, I did make sure to include the environment in my field of study because that has been my passion ever since I was a little kid. Going outside and picking up trash, participating in beach clean-ups, and learning as much as I could about wildlife rehabilitation. This has always been something that interested me, and I knew that no matter what I did in my career, I would dedicate as much of it as I could to helping our home become a better, cleaner world for those after us. It is our job to move towards sustainability in every job sector, whether it's health care and social services or retail and manufacturing. Sustainability is not just an environmental issue, it is a human race issue. And it starts with us. Being able to be a part of Voiz Dao will offer me so many opportunities to learn and grow in my field and teach me skills that I otherwise would not have! I am beyond excited to get to work and hear everyone's opinion and learn from each other! Some facts about me are that I have a twin sister, I love to crochet and sew, and in my free time I like to go to the beach with my friends or hang out with my family.
